Pork Production: A Food Systems Perspective

This e-study explores pork production from a food systems perspective, from the farm to the consumer. Systems thinking involves consideration of a particular operation such as pork production, in the larger context as a system involving inputs, processes and outputs. Systems thinking also supports more integrative approaches to complex policy issues like large scale agriculture, food safety and climate change. Understanding pork production as a system facilitates the recognition of its complexity and anticipation of the consequences from action at any stage within the system.
